Installation
Installation of your Glass Whiteboard is simple and straightforward. Follow the 6 easy steps below and your new design feature will be up in no time .....!
Where?
Decide exactly where your Glass Whiteboard is going to be - This sounds obvious, but you need to know not only what wall it will be on, but what height is going to be most convenient, how it will reflect the light, how visible it will be for where you need to read anything written on it, and so on. It is worth some discussion, as once the Glass Whiteboard is up, it is probably going to stay in place for some time.
Measure Up!
Measure the distance between the mounting holes on the whiteboard, both side to side and top to bottom. Then take a piece of cardboard and cut it exactly to that size. Using a long ruler (or other straight edge) make sure that sides of the piece of cardboard are cut straight. Then position the cardboard on the wall in the position you have decided to mount your new Glass Whiteboard. Using a spirit level, ensure the cardboard template is level, and carefully mark each corner. If you have measured correctly, these should be the points at which you should drill the holes for the wall anchors.
Measure Up Again!
Check your measurements! Seriously. It is easy to do it now. Very depressing when you try to match your Glass Whiteboard to the fittings later ...
Drill the fixing holes
According to the type of wall - masonry or gyprock - drill holes at the four points to the required depth, and carefully tap in the fixings. Makes sure you are using the correct size drill bit - too large and the hollow wall fixings will not function correctly, too small and the fixings will not go through the hole. For gyprock or hollow wall mounting, carefully start to screw the fixing tight. Do not allow the fixing to spin in the hole. When the fixing is firmly in place, remove the main screw. For masonry fixings, carefully tap in the fixing until it is level with the surface of the wall.
Attach the fittings
When the fixings are in place, screw in the long threaded piece supplied so that about 15mm is out of the wall. Screw the main body of the stainless steel fitting to this until it is firmly against the wall. Then add the shorter threaded piece to the outside of the fitting leaving about 10mm protruding, and place a spacer and the nylon bush around the threaded piece. Do this for all four fittings.
Fix the Glass Whiteboard
Carefully lift the Glass Whiteboard so that the four mounting holes are in front of the fittings (this is best done with two people) and carefully slip the Glass Whiteboard over the threaded pieces. Be careful not to scratch the back of the glass. When you have all four threaded bolts through the glass, place the remaining spacers against the glass and carefully screw the outer fittings on until they are firmly resting against the glass. If you wish you can nip the four outer fittings a little tighter.
Stand back and admire - your new Glass Whiteboard is finished!
